Clinify is a groundbreaking mobile application designed to assist individuals with color blindness by enhancing their ability to recognize and differentiate colors in everyday life. Using advanced image processing and artificial intelligence (AI), Clinify offers features such as real-time color enhancement, color detection from images, and personalized tips and quizzes. The app aims to improve the quality of life for people with color blindness by providing practical and accessible solutions that integrate seamlessly into their daily activities.
Color blindness is a hereditary condition affecting approximately 13% of the global population, with a higher prevalence among men. In Indonesia, the condition impacts about 0.7% of the population, with some regions seeing higher rates. People with color blindness face challenges in routine tasks such as choosing clothes, reading maps, or even selecting food. Despite its widespread impact, there is limited attention to this issue. Clinify addresses these challenges by combining AI and image technology to enhance color contrast and provide real-time assistance, helping users identify colors and navigate their environment with greater ease. Clinify also aligns with global initiatives, like WHO's Vision 2020, aiming to reduce visual impairments and create a more inclusive world.
The development of Clinify follows the Design Thinking methodology to ensure the app meets the needs of its users in an intuitive and effective manner.
• Empathize: User interviews and feedback sessions were conducted to understand the daily challenges faced by individuals with color blindness. This phase revealed the need for a solution that provides both visual enhancements and educational tools.
• Define: Based on insights gathered, the core problem was defined: users require an easy-to-use tool that helps them distinguish and identify colors in various contexts, while also offering support for understanding their condition.
• Ideate: A range of ideas was generated, including features like Camify (for real-time camera-based color enhancement), Pickerify (for color detection), Trickify (tips for managing color blindness), and Quizify (color blindness tests).
• Prototype: Wireframes and prototypes were created to visualize how users would interact with these features. This step ensured the design was user-friendly and addressed real-world challenges.
• Test: The app was tested with target users, and iterative feedback was gathered to refine the app's functionality. Features such as AI-powered chatbot Helpify and the consultation tool Consulify were added based on user input to enhance the overall experience.
Through this process, Clinify was crafted to be an accessible, functional, and innovative solution for individuals with color blindness, improving their everyday life and promoting greater inclusivity.
